Hello biacanauts!
We a had a small but very good meeting Wednesday night.
I spoke briefly with form before the meeting and got some input from him.
He said that he would talk to Thau about any contributions from Bianca.com.
Thought we might be able to get a $1000, maybe $2000 but no more than that.
We have estimated that we are probably looking at about $6000-$7000 in
costs:
25' truck $1500/ week minimum (although JD has a referral for us that he
says is much cheaper). For sound, form recommended 6-8 JBL ion's instead of
last year's 4 big ones. The advantage to that is that there would be no
need for an amp and they are better weather proofed.
We also need a volunteer to drive the truck or trucks, Dtodd's name was
brought up in reference to a class B license.
So if we did the above sound system it would only run about a $1000, the
other plus to this is that we may be able to get away with only one truck,
this of course also depends on the poof chair situation and how many couches
we take. And our costs for this will be of no concern, if Da buys a sound
system... ;)
25k generator $500
diesel, last year we spent $400 and had way too much! $200 should do it (2
50 gallon drums)
2 domes $200 each
Food is the next issue. We would like "clever alternative cheap easy
comfort food that is entertaining". Form wouldn't mind if he never saw
another grilled cheese in his life. Budget wise it is still a great cheap
easy comfort food that we have a reputation for. But alternatives to this
are up for debate. Frying eggs on car hoods was offered up by Mikek. Jello
would be fun, but refrigeration is an issue..... So, something to chew on.
heh
Theme, theme, themes........ there was lots of discussion about themes this
year, themes of camps past, and themes of camps future. Mikek filled us in
with a lot of the past themes and infrastructure that was used to develop
"themes". We could go with a the white space lounge/wedding theme or we
could have many smaller themes going on through out the shack. There does
seem to be a lot of concern for the theme so as meetings progress we want to
encourage people to come up with ideas and run with them!!!! So think
about central them vs. lots of little themes or a bit of both. Jay is
coming along with his Shiva sculpture idea. There is still lots of talk of
poof chairs. We've got a great dance floor and lots of lights and disco
balls. So we've got the backbone for this camp, all we need is people to
contribute with content!
Mikek is happy to give us the electrical demo. We can get a group together,
meet at storage and just run through the equipment and procedures. We just
need to pick a date, for those interested in the demo, what's good for you?
****So now is the time to reserve:
A full block of space at BM: ??Vjim?
Trucks: ?
Generator: Jimp/ form
Sound: form (patch bay for generator)
Sparky's mom is coming to town this week so we won't be able to hold the
meeting this week.
